Why do loose hairs clump together at the edge of my office chair?

You slide down the chair to get off or while you’re working. Your hair falls out.. or somebody else’s hair does, and they land onto the chair into the seat. You somehow manage to get them underneath your **** and you slide down the chair and this sweeps all the hairs togehter into clumps at the edge of the chair.
